Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Heavy-duty equipment mechanics repair, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul and maintain underground utility construction equipment and trucks.

Job Task – (Perform any combination of the following):

• • Correctly perform equipment maintenance on wide range of equipment, gas & diesel.
  • Properly diagnose equipment abnormalities and fix issue for repair.
  • Equipment includes fleet trucks, dump trucks, trailers, track hoes and excavators, loaders, generators, air compressors, pumps and powered hand tools.
  • Correctly install and repair construction equipment to original specifications.
  • Working with hydraulic pump and pneumatic systems.
  • Must be able to operate both manual and automatic transmissions.
  • Cleaning, lubricating and servicing equipment as directed.
  • Loading and unloading construction equipment from trucks.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions as directed by supervisor.
  • Perform safety checks of the equipment, keep accurate records on equipment maintenance.
  • Assist in all project task as directed by supervisor.

Minimum Job Skills Required:

• • Have 3+ years of certified mechanic experience, skilled position.
  • Valid CDL class A driver license, current DOT physical and clean driving record.
  • Full understanding of how equipment works mechanically.
  • Understand how to read equipment drawings and parts lists.
  • Physically fit and able to lift 50-75 lbs. regularly.
  • Perform and pass pre-hire skills test.
  • Be able to safely enter and exit trucks and construction equipment frequently.
  • Correctly keep track of paperwork and tickets from vendors and parts suppliers.
  • Effectively work in outdoor environment in heat and cold.
  • Communicate and work cohesively with entire crew/team.
  • Follow directions accurately given by supervisor.
  • Always wear PPE while on job site (hard had, safety vest, hearing protection, eye protection)
  • Work in a safe manner following all safety rules and company guidelines.
